Frequently Asked Questions

Currently, preparatory work is underway for the detailed regulation of 1,600 acres, in addition to establishing necessary plans for the road leading to Bøylestad energipark. This is being done in parallel with the county and municipality making the necessary preparations to initiate the zoning plan for the road leading to Bøylestad Energy Park. In accordance with the sequencing requirement from the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, the road plan must be approved by the municipality before the detailed zoning of Bøylestad Energy Park can be further developed.

Bøylestad Energy Park is strategically located at the central power hub in Østre Agder. The area hosts an extensive network of power lines and transformer stations, making it particularly well-suited for the establishment of energy-intensive industries.

By situating such industries near the central grid, the need for new transmission corridors is avoided, thereby preventing significant environmental impact and reducing substantial construction costs for society. At the same time, this approach helps minimize power losses in the lines, enhances the predictability of grid connections, and increases the region’s attractiveness for new industrial developments.

With these advantages, Bøylestad Energy Park paves the way for sustainable development and economic growth in Agder.

Bøylestad Energipark is owned and developed by local landowners Svein Bøylestad and Nils Lyngroth, together with Arendals Fossekompani.

In December 2024, Agder County Municipality decided the following (page 94):
